A guy whose dad, Michael, died in 9/11 used his speech today to remind people not to use his dad’s death to spread hate.
"I’ve had to grow up and spend the past 25 years seeing people use it to hate on our Muslim brothers and sisters, to hate on people who don’t look like them. And that’s wrong, and that does no honour to the victims here."
"I want to use the little platform I have to ask for that. Please stop."
Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11.
We remember all those whose lives were lost and shattered that day. And we honour the bravery of first responders, many of whom are still battling illnesses and campaigning for their right to healthcare.
What followed was a catastrophic 'War on Terror', which killed many hundreds of thousands of people, left many more in desperate poverty, fuelled a wave of Islamophobia, and triggered an endless spiral of conflict, hatred and misery.
The US led, and Britain supinely followed. The world is still living with the consequences of this disastrous decision, yet there is still no accountability for the death and destruction it left behind.
Today, we must learn the lessons of history. That means recognising that war is not the answer, ending the horrors of occupation, and striving to build a world of peace and harmony for all.
RIP to the 2,977 people that lost their lives on 9/11.
And NOW RIP to the millions of innocent people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Yemen who paid the price for something they never committed
Sanctions on illegal settlements are welcome, but not enough.
Britain must end all arms sales, all military cooperation, and all forms of support that sustain Israel’s system of apartheid, occupation and genocide.

@Wickes if I’ve paid for something to be delivered surely it’s delivered to my front door? Why are your drivers telling me I have to meet them downstairs and somehow get a work top from the front of my building into a lift upstairs by myself?
I renew my appeal for an end to the ongoing violence against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank, and I urgently call on the international community to work toward advancing the two-state solution, for a just and lasting peace.
