@MonteSyrie I have been doing completely standards based assessment for 4 years (no marks, just feedback). This year, the assessment policy has changed and I have to have marks for report cards. It's killing me and the vibes in my classroom. I feel like I'm making it all up.
@Dimcl2 Until recently, I thought "towing the line" referred to pulling, symbolizing doing what you felt you had to do, even if it didn't align with your beliefs. An employee might repeat the company's stance, even if they disagreed; forced to pull along an idea they don't support
Michael Phelps is literally referred to as a freak of nature because of his disproportionate wingspan, double jointed ankles, lung capacity twice that of an average human, body that produces half the lactic acid of a typical athlete, and he is rightly celebrated for being the greatest male swimmer in history. Meanwhile, female athletes with genetic differences are legally discriminated against and harassed to no end. This is not about โprotecting women in sportsโ - this is about protecting a very specific idea of what a woman is.
@BostonBrand77 Totally agree with you. Trans rights are human rights and she was wrong in her statements. I guess as a Potter fan, I just needed to see where she was coming from. She is still wrong.
My kids will experience my subject.
They will not "master" my subject.
Some of their experiences will be new--most will be review.
Some of it'll stick. Some of it won't.
Some of what they experienced will perhaps be useful later in their lives--much won't.
That's learning.
I just finished this book I'm so impressed. I have no personal connection to the oil sands or camp work, so this was eye-opening. Life is difficult; it's not black and white, but more like the greys of Kate Beaton's images. #AMustRead#CanadaReads
@RCMPNL@RNC_PoliceNL has anyone checked to see if these ladies are ok? Social media posts are horrible towards them, but I'm worried. Are they ok? Are they doing this of their own accord? Why do people always think the worst of others? Maybe they need help, not judgement.
@lorilydialove Are the people commenting actually real people who have children in NL schools? This is why it's so difficult to be a caring and compassionate teacher. We are fighting so much hatred. I'm disgusted in how horrible people can be and I'm tired of the ignorance. Do better, NL.
I just finished The Witch Trials of JK Rowling, Eps. 7. This resonates with me. I have often thought my doubt about my convictions was a bad thing. Maybe not.
@Headteacherchat My staff was told we were not dedicated because we did not have 2 winter concerts (one in the afternoon and then another in the evening) . Of course, we would have been volunteering during the evening concert. It was hurtful to hear when we do so much for the students
๐Congratulations to our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week contest winners! Huge thanks to all who shared the great work our members are doing throughout NL, not only last week but throughout the year! ๐๐
