به گفته او، یکی از دلایل این تعلل، نگرانی دولت‌های غربی از سرنوشت گروگان‌ها و حفظ دسترسی‌های دیپلماتیک بوده است؛ رویکردی که عملاً آنان را در برابر باج‌خواهی جمهوری اسلامی آسیب‌پذیرتر کرده است.

همان‌طور که یک سناتور فرانسوی سال گذشته به او گفت: «ما به گروگانِ گروگان‌های خودمان تبدیل شده‌ایم.»

تسلیم در برابر تهدید و باج‌خواهی، راه‌حل بحران نیست؛ سیاستی است که تنها به سود جمهوری اسلامی و به زیان مردم ایران و جهان آزاد تمام می‌شود.
