देश का दिवाला पिट गया है....

अप्रैल में खर्च, टैक्स कलेक्शन से तीन गुना है। मोदी सरकार का बुलबुला फूट जाएगा।

जितने बजट घाटे को बजट में साल भर के लिए दर्शाया था, उसका 21% अकेले अप्रैल में ही हो गया। एक महीने में करीब 3.5 लाख करोड़ का घाटा हुआ है।

कुल सालाना बजट घाटा GDP के 5% तक पहुँच जाएगा। कुल रकम में देखें तो यह 21 से 22 लाख करोड़ तक पहुँच जाएगा। इस घाटे को मोदी सरकार कर्ज़ लेकर भी नहीं संभाल सकती।

सभी विभागों में योजनाओं के ख़र्च में बड़ी कटौती होगी। राज्य सरकारों की चीखें निकल जाएंगी। आधे राज्य कर्मचारियों को तनख्वाह और पेंशन नहीं दे पाएंगे।

देश को मोदी सरकार ने गहरे गड्ढे में धकेल दिया है। बिजली और फर्टिलाइज़र के दाम बेतहाशा बढ़ेंगे। ग्रामीण भारत से कई योजनाएं जल्द ही बंद हो जाएंगी।

one thing i want to say.

many people find him appealing today. some even think he has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last few years.

i am not sure that is entirely true.

if you go back and listen to his speeches from 2009 or 2010 and compare them with what he says today, the core themes remain remarkably similar. his emphasis on social justice, equality, institutional accountability, economic inclusion and constitutional values has been fairly consistent.

his style may have evolved. he may communicate better today. he may appear more confident, more relaxed and more effective in connecting with people. public perception has certainly changed.

but that is different from saying that his politics or principles have fundamentally changed.

in many ways, what has changed is not the person but the audience.

people who once dismissed him are now paying closer attention. ideas that were previously ignored are now being heard. positions that were once mocked are now being debated seriously.

whether one agrees with him or not is a separate matter.

but if you look at his public record over a long period of time, there is a strong argument that the central values he speaks about today are the same values he was speaking about more than a decade ago.

perhaps the biggest change is that more people are finally listening.

मैं इंदिरा पॉइंट पर खड़ा हुआ। मैं उन पेड़ों के नीचे से गुज़रा जो सदियों से वहाँ खड़े हैं। मैंने दुनिया की सबसे शानदार मूंगा चट्टानों के बीच गोता लगाया।

और मैं वहाँ रहने वाले लोगों के साथ बैठा। आदिवासी समुदाय, जिनकी ज़मीन 'वन अधिकार अधिनियम' का उल्लंघन करके छीनी जा रही है। बाहर से आकर बसे लोग, जिनमें से कई पूर्व सैनिक हैं जिन्हें भारत सरकार ने इन द्वीपों पर बसाया था, उन्हें भी उचित मुआवज़ा नहीं मिल रहा है।

मोदी सरकार और बीजेपी आपसे कहती है कि 'ग्रेट निकोबार प्रोजेक्ट' रक्षा से जुड़ा है। असल में ऐसा नहीं है।

INS बाज़ का विस्तार करें - हम सरकार का पूरा समर्थन करेंगे। नौसेना पाँच साल से इसके विस्तार की मांग कर रही है - लेकिन इसे नज़रअंदाज़ किया गया है।

वो आपसे कहते हैं कि यह एक ट्रांसशिपमेंट पोर्ट के बारे में है। ऐसा नहीं है। भारत पहले से ही केरल में ऐसा एक पोर्ट बना रहा है, जो मुख्य भूमि पर है।

असल में यह क्या है: 1.5 करोड़ पेड़ काटे जा रहे हैं। सरकारी नक्शों से कोरल रीफ़ को मिटा दिया गया है। सैनिकों और आदिवासियों को विस्थापित किया जा रहा है - ताकि एक व्यापारी भारत की सबसे अनमोल और पर्यावरण की दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण ज़मीन पर होटल और कसीनो बना सके।

हर युवा भारतीय जिससे मैंने बात की है, वह यह बात समझता है। आप जानते हैं कि मुनाफ़े के लिए ऐसी चीज़ को नष्ट करना सही नहीं है जिसे कभी वापस नहीं पाया जा सकता।

मैं पर्यावरण के लिहाज़ से संतुलित विकास का समर्थन करता हूँ। ये द्वीप दुनिया के सबसे अद्भुत और सस्टेनेबल डेस्टिनेशन बन सकते हैं। यही वह भारत है जिसके लिए लड़ना ज़रूरी है।

ग्रेट निकोबार में 1.5 करोड़ पेड़, दुर्लभ कोरल रीफ और सदियों से प्रकृति की गोद में जी रहे हैं. अब प्राकृत की विरासत पर खतरा मंडरा रहा है.

राहुल गांधी ने ग्रेट निकोबार परियोजना पर एक महत्वपूर्ण सवाल उठाया है. उन्होंने कहा है, विकास के नाम पर प्राकृतिक विरासत को मिटाया नही जा सकता है.

देश को बंदरगाह, सड़कें और रक्षा ढांचा चाहिए लेकिन यह सब पर्यावरण और लोगों के अधिकारों को कुचलकर नही हासिल नही किया जा सकता है.

I visited the southernmost tip of India.

I stood at Indira Point. I walked under trees that have stood for centuries. I dove into coral reefs among the most vibrant on earth.

And I sat with the people who live there. Tribal communities, whose land is being taken away by violating the Forest Rights Act. Settlers, many of them former soldiers, placed on these islands by the Indian government, who aren’t getting fair compensation.

The Modi government and BJP tells you Great Nicobar Project is about defence. It is not.

Expand INS Baaz - we will back the government fully. The Navy has been asking for expansion for five years - it has been ignored.

They tell you it is about a transhipment port. It is not. India is already building one in Kerala, which is on the mainland.

What it actually is: 1.5 crore trees felled. Coral reefs erased from official maps. Soldiers and tribals displaced - so one businessman can build hotels and casinos on India’s most irreplaceable ecological land.

Every young Indian I have spoken to understands this. You know that no amount of profit is worth destroying what can never be recovered.

I stand for ecologically balanced development. These islands can be the most extraordinary sustainable destination the world has ever seen. That is the India worth fighting for.

राजनीति में बहुत शोर हो जाए तो समुद्र में डीप डाइव लगा लेते हैं; वापस लौटते हैं तो लोकतंत्र, संविधान और बेरोज़गारी की चिंता शुरू कर देते हैं। फिर कुछ दिन किसी गुफा, जंगल, खेत या पहाड़ की ओर निकल जाते हैं; लौटकर संसद में कोई तीखा सवाल कर देते हैं। कभी ट्रक ड्राइवरों के साथ, कभी मैकेनिकों के बीच, कभी ऑटो वालों के साथ बैठ जाते हैं।

उनकी राजनीति का कैलेंडर शायद दिल्ली के वातानुकूलित कमरों में नहीं, रास्तों, यात्राओं और अचानक लिए गए विरामों में बनता है। आलोचक इसे अस्थिरता कहेंगे, समर्थक सहजता; लेकिन इतना तय है कि यह आदमी राजनीति को केवल मंच और माइक्रोफ़ोन पर नहीं जीता। बीच-बीच में वह सत्ता की गंभीरता को जीवन की थोड़ी-सी मस्ती, जिज्ञासा और मानवीयता से काट देता है और शायद यही बात उसे बाकी नेताओं से अलग भी बनाती है।
