Academic trauma circle of life:

In the 1920's we invented diagnostic peritoneal aspiration (DPA) for trauma;

- it didn't work well, so in 1965 we added the 'lavage' and it became "DPL", which we then got rid of in the 1990's.

- In 2023 we're thinking about doing DPA again 🤔
