@RDG_C@DavidDavisMP@CastletonLee And then get in there to keep running after the failed IBM contract in 2014….. and all that before any of the “keep it going” renewals as the PO failed on NBIT etc.
I hope the Inquiry at least touches on how F were so “sticky” for the first 18 or so years…
2/2.
@RDG_C@DavidDavisMP@CastletonLee Big outsource providers all do what they can to be “sticky” & ensure they retain job for multiple renewals.
But in the Horizon case, they somehow managed to totally change the solution to an online one, without a new tender…. As well as multiple 5 yr extensions….

@ElCShaikh I do not understand why, if POL is owned by HMG, and HMG appoints the CEO and Chair, why POL cannot just be *instructed* by HMG to waive any LPP - possibly with a right of appeal to a suitably qualified person.
Seems wrong that POL deciding. Or is this protecting the lawyers.
@stugoo17@PostOffice And FOI attempts to get more info have been delayed big time then refused. It’s as if they know it’s a disaster in the making but the corporate policy is that stalling and obfuscating is better than admitting……
Sadly indicative of nothing changing I fear.
@Coyne_Expert Strikes me as a risky move given the disclosure which will presumably be needed to float on the LSE AIM - one can imagine adverse publicity being hard to control.
Last Oct I submitted FOI request to POL on strategy for Horizon/FJ replacement.
After long delay been declined on 3 grounds - security, personal info + commercial.
Feels like desperate not to reveal anything.

@Karlfl@ElCShaikh@nickwallis
@BrianARogers62 More than just relied on the lawyers, being actively directed or misdirected by them.
And not well supported by his own employers (who surely had a duty of care to him).
@Alicetweets Escher (Escher Group Ltd) was (is) a Boston-based supplier of certain software products to Pathway (ie Fujitsu), including a messaging product called Riposte, which was used in the Legacy Horizon solution.
FJ built Horizon on top of Riposte.
@sirskynet@CastletonLee It’s only a small number is a very strange argument for a ‘union’ man to use. It came out he was more interested in heading a group of franchise owners than representing SPMs against a bullying POL.
Prepared to sacrifice a few for the greater good, even.
@DanNeidle@nickwallis Maybe the Information Commissioner could look at other industries. In a railway industry journal today I read this suggestion - setting fine levels to match executive bonuses. Maybe the same for POL execs?
@Karlfl And remember, 2010 was when Rod Ismay created this eponymous report on the reliability of Horizon. Same year they had these issues with HNG…..
Never understood how they could claim unproven few month old sys was reliable.
Ian Henderson from Second Sight giving evidence to the #postofficeinquiry today. This section of his written statement goes to the absurdity of this whole scandal.
