@SwavZielin@cazaropa182@jul92785@pippaisright There's no suggestion or evidence that playing it is being discouraged, is there? The whole scenario is being misrepresented. The security guys needed him to stop playing so they could move the piano. He wouldn't co-operate so they told him to fuck off.
@ClaireTemagami6@AntonChigurh4PM@OrigLD@pippaisright That's what I thought. I've no doubt there are quite a few capable and talented players regularly using that station who would be delighted to entertain fellow-travellers for half an hour or so, if only they didn't have to engage with him in order to do so.
@TonyFelonius@OrigLD@pippaisright I can only decline the invitation on my own behalf. I will leave the invitation open for the others to respond themselves, if that's ok.
@TonyFelonius@OrigLD@pippaisright He uses the piano himself for prolonged periods and while not actually preventing other people from doing so, he's exercising control over the space which coerces them into using it on his terms. He doesn't just fuck off and let them do their thing.
@SwavZielin@cazaropa182@jul92785@pippaisright It's not a "government rule", and it's only a public space in the sense that it's a space used by the public as customers of the owners. It's still private property, and the owners (Network Rail) generally prohibit commercial activity not licenced by themselves.
@skedeschi@BTP He does seem to selfishly monopolise and control access to something that is actually put there for the general enjoyment of Network Rail passengers to use themselves. He isn't even there as a passenger. It's on private property and they can legally require him to leave.
@lBlindGhostl@jul92785@pippaisright@brenkav His channel is obviously very popular, and I can see that he gets lots of people to join in playing and many by-standers enjoy listening. I don't see anything wrong with that, but I will still maintain that he is in fact controlling other people's access.
@HenryYau20@jul92785@pippaisright No I'm not. He's carry out business activities, from which he earns a living, on private property, for which he has no commercial licence from the property owners, and he is being legitimately required to leave the property.
@DebBrSpence There's no evidence that anybody except him has ever been told to stop playing that piano, and if you go there to St Pancras Station I have no doubt you will find other people playing it with no interference from security guards.
@cazaropa182@jul92785@pippaisright He is in fact a well known character who uses it A LOT for commercial gain which breaks the rules of the property owners. I guarantee that if you visit St Pancras Station when he's not there you will see other people playing that piano with no interference from anyone.
@pippaisright It's always this bloke who gets told to stop playing. Nobody else. The piano is there for rail passengers to use while waiting for their trains. He's not a passenger. He's well known for using it for commercial gain on YouTube, and he stops others from using it.
