I wrote a short story about football in a Britain rebuilding after a nuclear war, which has just been published in an alternate history sports short story collection, 'If We'd Just Got That Penalty'.
If you think that sounds interesting, give it a read!

@TheCheapShowPod All the Halloween episodes are great, but this is my favourite. For some reason the end does actually scare me (the reason is I'm a massive wimp and shock easily)
@ColdWarPod I work at the University of Reading where we have the Region 6 War Room on campus. Sadly it's not open for visiting, and I understand is not in a good state internally.
The Zeppelin bunker at Zossen was the primary communication center for the Wehrmacht. This gigantic bunker has four levels. During the Cold War, it was used by the Soviets under the name Ranet. The area was demilitarized in 1994 when the last Russian troops left Germany.
The England FA receive a large amount of criticism. some harsh, some fair, such is the way of anyone or anything tasked with the running of a sport.
Ten years ago the FA released their DNA vision. Gareth Southgate sat at the side of Dan Ashworth as it was unveiled to the public.
Five plus years before that they had released the Future Game and the fantastic Youth Module courses.
Both designed to help develop young players and impact the way that we coach at all levels.
The playing structure was changed, with the introduction of a phased increase, from 5v5 to 7v7 to 9v9 then 11v11.
These changes, along with the significant work done by academies have helped provide players with the talent to reach successive Euros finals.
To help understand the impact -
Mainoo was 9 years old the year the DNA was released.
Bellingham 11, Palmer 12, Saka 12, Foden 14 and so on. They developed in an environment impacted by the DNA or the Future Game.
Credit where it is due.
And bring back the Youth Modules!

@trivia_lad I ended up doing a John Cusack double bill of ConAir and High Fidelity over Easter, and I'd be fine for him to be in more and better films than he has been recently.
@Bolt_451 Get your accumulator in on whether this dog will overcome this pack of toddlers! Only 34% of proceeds go to funding the Russian invasion of Ukraine!
I've recently devoured this by @PeterPrickett and @insidewrite1957, published by @PitchPublishing. Great stuff, the authors' tactical understanding and breadth of football history shines through.
Hopefully a sequel is in the works!
