@DogsBreakfastFC Lifts the arms/ball into the tackle which is considered prior, means it's must be a disposal and not an attempt
It's quick but there, one of the very few areas with decent consistency this season
@TheBackPocketAU@bazz_27 Came off a Sydney boot towards goals no? Well within his rights to tap it through, let alone fumble a wet ball. Extremely harsh
@themongrelpunt@FootyfanRoberto It's not though, Jackson starts the tackle as the Geelong player is still in the process of gathering that ball. If any attempt that isn't a legal disposal in this sort of scenario is called players will very quickly not aim to take possession first
@jakksynn@hasumpstuffedup@themongrelpunt He's basically being tackled before he even takes possession, HTB here would be unworkable for any contested ball winner.
@Bigkev87@hasumpstuffedup@themongrelpunt It's not considered prior but without the ball being pinned you need to make a genuine attempt to dispose of it, which happened here.
No prior and no attempt (ball not pinned/arm free) would have been HTB in this scenario
@Sivixio28 @JADelaideX Hands in the back of a player cutting across you vs shoving someone about to jump at a contest (then not getting the ball)
Are we banning the action only based on results? Naughton in the clear because Murray didn't have enough of a collision with Weightman?
@Sivixio28 @JADelaideX When you say involved you must mean pushes then doesn't compete for.
And when you say Tex wasn't looking at the ball you must mean tracked it the entire way to the contest right?
@Bmwils11@hasumpstuffedup@MattWalshMedia Technically how?
You'd be going through 5m of protected area to get to the mark, which isn't allowed anywhere else on the ground
@hasumpstuffedup@MattWalshMedia Is there some secondary aspect to this rule for set marks/shots?
There will be plenty of uncontested marks i50 with players outside the protected area, but they're then allowed to stand the mark when set by the controlling umpire.
@VardyMagic That Dempsey shrugged tackle was excellent, had both arms pinned and just shimmied out of it.
An inside mid, built like a key forward, with the tank of a winger, absolute 🦄
@oz_addy@mccaffriedion@1116sen And according to the AFL as of last week, if it was incorrectly called a point and play had begun it would not have been brought back just to keep the game going.
Can't imagine why people would be miffed though...
