I was fortunate enough to contribute to - and appear in - this piece for Access Asia on France 24 regarding Indonesia’s endorsement of a two-state solution and recognition of a Palestinian State (skip ahead to 6:45 mins) https://t.co/a6GA9NjwSF
Indonesia's support for the Palestinian cause can be traced back to foreign policy under President Sukarno (1945- 1965). President Soeharto (1967-1998) adopted a policy of deliberate ambiguity regarding Israel, buying fighter jets from Tel Aviv https://t.co/H6qwYAyul4
"Indonesia’s foreign policy under Prabowo and Sugiono might appear more active... circumstances beyond Prabowo’s power dictate that, substantively, it will likely be a continuation of that of the Jokowi admin" - @PetersonDanielP

With all the chat regarding what Indonesian foreign policy might look like under President @prabowo, here are two of my own recent offerings.
The first addresses @prabowo's likely approach to China:

It’s 3 years since @basuki_btp ‘Ahok’ was jailed for blasphemy for saying Muslims could vote for a Christian. Author @PetersonDanielP spent years researching trial’s legacy for Indonesian democracy and political Islam. See his take https://t.co/hMP5dda5yl
Three years ago today former #Jakarta Governor #Ahok was convicted and jailed on blasphemy charges. Author @PetersonDanielP discusses the lessons to be learnt from the case and the impact it will have on the 2024 presidential elections on #AsialinkInsights https://t.co/SypALiMvSR
Three years after Ahok’s conviction. My piece for @Asialink_au reflecting on what Ahok’s blasphemy trial and conviction were really all about. https://t.co/1rrHojl6wd
@Stansted_Exp really poor that you won’t issue refunds for tickets under the guise that train travel is as safe as being in public spaces. The FCO bans all non-essential travel and RyanAir is grounded - so why would anyone take a train to Stansted Airport? You’re helping no one.
