@TalkinBaseball_@bestwestern@TalkinJake@trevorplouffe The "unprecedented" argument is irrelevant because something unprecedented isn't necessarily most valuable. But what pete is doing is also unprecedented. There's never been 40/40 cf. Let alone one as defensively valuable. He'll be on a list of 1
@SamOlbur It's the low strikeout rate and high fip. I think it's exaggerated, they play to their defensive strenght after all, but still the pitching is bad
@seeweesaw@mitch_santini The cubs pitching has been bad and they win a lot of games because of great offensive performances and defense, but war is gonna exaggerate how bad because it loves strikeouts. Cubs don't do that
@AshtonEck8 If pete goes 40/40 while playing the best defense in the statcast era then he is the best player in baseball. Even if shohei makes a few more starts
@eagomez22@YanksBar Pete's on pace for 40/40 now while having the best defensive season in the statcast era. If he gets there it'll be the first time ever and he will win mvp
@cloaqued@YanksBar@Justalurke Well there's never been a 40/40 center fielder before and pete is now on pace for that. Let alone a cf having one of the best defensive seasons of all time
