The GTCNI has now BEGUN to assess my application. Will be 6 to 8 weeks and 'not possible to fast track'. Thank goodness nobody in Northern Ireland is looking for a substitute teacher.
Thanks for the support. The union are aware of the issues. NQTs who qualified outside Northern Ireland (but in UK) are being treated by GTCNI as though we are foreign. This is a ridiculous state of affairs. I sent them my QTS from the DoE in Whitehall and that isn't good enough!
@rhsheadmaster That's a lovely, kind offer. I have others offering the same and I am going to volunteer at a local school from Friday. Thank you for reaching out. It is nice to feel supported. I hope you have a nice start to the new term.
A pang of jealousy as I read all the excited tweets from NQTs starting with their new classes. Meanwhile, the GTCNI still hasn't even given me a registration number. Good luck, everyone!
I'm feeling very low. I can't register as a teacher in Northern Ireland because I did my PGCE in England and the University has still not sent me a certificate and transcript. There's a local job for the first time in three months and I can't even apply for it. I want to cry.
.
I have my QTS. Now just to jump through all the hoops to be registered in Northern Ireland because England is a separate country when there's duplicate civil service jobs to justify...
@misscjprimary Schools not even bothering to send a rejection are the worst. It's a basic lack of manners. Though the question has to be, would you want to work somewhere that treats people like that?
I really thought I'd got my best application together. Showed off some of my best work. Pointed out the football coaching I am doing over the summer to offer something else. Not shortlisted. I want to be a teacher, but teaching doesn't want me.
