It's all too common that the most vulnerable members of our community (PhDs, international staff) receive the least support. We really need to do better.
Know that we will always be here for you if you need us.
Teaching my first class this term, I dealt with a Dutch white woman student whose disrespect I was forced to tolerate for months. This person would roll her eyes at me in every class, gossip about me in Dutch, make comments about my face and hair, and question my qualifications.
Why weren't early career academics included in the analysis? The report states: "The range of tasks of lecturers and postdocs is very varied, and alternative arrangements are often made with PhDs on
teaching in their contract."
A poor excuse to leave out such a large group.
The Dutch labour inspection agency recently concluded that almost all scientific staff are performing tasks outside their UFO profile. This needs to change!

The @LeidenArchaeo report is out. Shocking stories of misconduct, shocking signals of a broken system.
We hope to discuss findings with the board soon. It seems the report lacks concrete suggestions to improve the culture/system for PhDs and postdocs.

PNN stands against police brutality on campus. Enabling police violence goes against the freedom of expression and assembly in universities, which we believe, as PhD candidates, is important to protect.

Employee turnout (24.3%) is already higher than final turnout 2018 & 2020. Highest turnout since 2000 is 33.1% in 2014. Could we beat it?
Student turnout (6.5%) is lower than last year, with last year having the lowest turnout ever. Hoping for a comeback🤞

Hi! I'm Tahmina and I'm a fifth-year PhD candidate (of a six year track) in drug delivery and immunology at LACDR. I also work as a junior teacher.
What is your favourite proposal in the election program?
To have 40% female professors by 2026!
Leiden University currently has 31.2% female full
professors, but 49.1% of PhDs and 48.7% of assistant professors are female.
