@GAMERTAGVR I've often thought if Meta asked a few VR youtubers or heavy users like myself what they should do, they would have gotten a lot further. They've done a lot of impressive stuff, but they've also made a lot of mistakes that were *immediately* obvious to me. (Navigator cough)
Thank You @recroom ! https://t.co/i8sEP3mxX6 via @YouTube
I am sad that RecRoom is shutting down, but I'm so appreciative of all the years of joy it has brought me. Thank you to the RecRoom developers and staff that made this possible and made VR feel like home.
@matteo311 I think just about everyone I know has been sick lately with something. There's definitely some wicked stuff going around. I had something latch onto me for 3 weeks. Finally over it. Feel better soon. You're in my prayers.
@IGN I really enjoyed the Moss games in VR. I'm glad flat screen players who can't afford a headset will get to experience them even if they do so in an inferior way.
Heard some people like wheels?😁
Humanoid robots are the ideal form of general-purpose robots (perfect for general AI and human-derived data). They can work without wheels — but they can also have wheels if they want. Whatever works.
@RebirthSFX @VRChat VRChat gives you the tools to protect yourself. If someone is a problem, block them. Your safety is your responsibility.
- Avatars aren't what people actually look like
- Not everything a random troll says is true
- You create your own experience
This is a devastating blow to the VR social fabric. RecRoom and VRChat were the dominant social platforms in VR serving 2 different audiences. Now only VRChat remains. I've made many friends and memories over years in RecRoom. It is a great loss.
Rec Room is shutting down for good on June 1st
“We never quite figured out how to make Rec Room a sustainably profitable business”
“With the recent shift in the VR market, along with broader headwinds in gaming — we've made the difficult decision to shut things down.”
END OF AN ERA… 💔
Rec Room… one of the OG social gaming platforms… is officially shutting down.
A platform that once hit a $3.5 BILLION valuation… built communities, friendships, and memories across VR… is now going offline for good on June 1st.
For a lot of folks, @recroom wasn’t just a game…It was a place creators showed up, created, laughed, and connected. However, Moments like this remind us…Nothing in this space is guaranteed!
Rec Room has some incredible UGC experiences as well as amazing first party experiences that folks should explore before the shutdown!
Sorry to everyone(creators and employees) impacted by this shutdown! @JoyReignVr & I are still holding hope for our Metaverse dream of assisting all these incredible UGC creators and those who work on these UGC platforms to come together somehow and build a platform that could scale not only creatively, but financially in the future. Mission continues…🚀😤
I had to give my kid the biggest hug when I told them this. Playing Rec Room with them has been a significant source of joy between us; I’ve even done it when in a long business trip to help them feel closer to me.
I wish there was something we could do 😔
Steam NEXT Fest time again!
When people ask me "where did you find this game?!", the answer is almost always from these 3 times a year events.
Indie devs, share your game here! No promises, but I stream long hours during these weeks for a reason!
Any wishlist demos incoming?
