धान का कटोरा कहलाने वाले छत्तीसगढ़ में आप सोचेंगे कि सबसे बड़ी और ऑटोमैटिक राइस मिल किसी बड़े व्यापारी, किसी उद्योगपति या फिर किसी मालदार किसान की होगी…
लेकिन जवाब है — इनमें से कोई भी नहीं।
छत्तीसगढ़ की सबसे बड़ी और हाई-टेक राइस मिल के मालिक हैं—एक जिले के पुलिस कप्तान।
जी हाँ, वही कप्तान साहब, जिन्होंने पंद्रह–बीस साल की नौकरी में ऐसी तरक्की की ऐसा माल बनाया कि बड़े-बड़े कारोबारी भी देखकर शरमा जाएँ।
नौकरी में रहते-रहते साहब ने राइस मिल ही नहीं लगाई है,
रायपुर में एक आलीशान बंगला भी खड़ा कर लिया,
खारून नदी के उस पार एक शानदार फ़ार्म हाउस ले लिया,
और यहाँ–वहाँ छोटी-मोटी नहीं, बल्कि करोड़ों की संपत्तियाँ भी जोड़ लीं।
कुल जमा हिसाब लगाएँ तो करीब 100 करोड़ से ऊपर की संपत्ति।
कप्तान साहब की विशेषता?
हिसाब–किताब में इतने पारंगत कि जिस भी जिले में पोस्टिंग रही, वहाँ थानेदार से ‘हिसाब’ का पाँच हज़ार भी इंच टेप से नापकर वसूलते थे।
जब वसूली इतनी वैज्ञानिक, इतनी सटीक हो—
तो फिर राइस मिल क्या, कप्तान साहब चाहें तो कोई बड़ा क्रूज़ शिप भी खरीद लें,
और उस पर बैठकर ईमानदारी के प्रवचन भी देते रहें,हमें क्या है।
