Bitcoin could be getting a quantum-security upgrade.

A new BIP for SHRINCS has been published, proposing a post-quantum signature scheme designed specifically for Bitcoin.

The goal is simple: protect BTC from future quantum computers that could eventually threaten today’s cryptography.

But there’s a catch.

SHRINCS is still an early proposal. Its security proof isn’t complete, and the scheme introduces additional complexity because wallets have to track previously used keys.

So this isn’t “Bitcoin is quantum-proof now.”

It’s Bitcoin developers taking the threat seriously before it becomes a problem.

And honestly, that’s exactly how you want Bitcoin to approach something this important.
