The modern political map of this region was shaped largely by Britain and France after the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

Borders, mandates and political entities were created and reorganized across the entire region.

The states are modern. The people are ancient. Jews, Christians and Muslims all have deep roots here.

So when you argue that Israel is illegitimate because the modern state is only 78 years old, do you think that argument only applies to Israel?
