Just had a Met Police update on a case I was in court for a couple of months ago. Driver was found guilty in his absence, disqualified for 6 months and had to pay £1266 in fine+costs+surcharge. He already had 6 points from within the last 3 years for driving without insurance. Whilst I feel sorry for him, most people don't learn without prosecution, and this guy obviously didn't learn from the previous prosecution either, and still chose to go on his phone. Oh, and the courts were very fair with him - they gave him a chance to attend a new disqualification hearing and apply for exceptional hardship.

@leebeck1 @MikeyCycling Well, the reporting to the police would be done regardless. Subsequently posting on here is 'for a few clicks' but more to reinforce the consequences of being a dangerous driver.

@sexandtheswiss I lasted about 15 hours. Went to A@E. Nurse took blood then came back into the cubicle with a carrier bag. I asked what it was for and she said 'your clothes, you're not going anywhere'. Gallstone and acute pancreatitus. Stayed in hospital for 3 weeks.
Go get checked.

@bickers1983 @laurencyclist I prefer to anticipate problems. Better than dealing with damage afterwards. Ive had a car damaged by somebody cutting a corner. It won’t take you long on youtube to find the consequences of that for a cyclist.
