Perspective? In Spain, their equivalent of the contributory state pension schemes involves the employee contributing about 5% but the employers have to put in almost 24% - very similar to our civil service/teachers/NHS/fire service etc.

The cost of living in Spain is 33% lower than in the UK.

Spain's equivalent to our council tax is about a tenth of what we pay in the UK. And they get daily bin collections.
