Dems are like, “we take institutions seriously so we’ll nominate Merrick Garland who will be meticulous and slow so no one will ever suspect him of political bias” and GOP is like “LOL MATT GAETZ AS AG”
You’d probably want Peltola in Alaska, Rob Sand in Iowa, Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Golden in Maine, and Cooper in North Carolina in order for Democrats to have a really good chance at winning the Senate in 2026.
Unfortunately I canceled both after subscribing for years. It hurt because I know there are a ton of great professionals at both outlets
But ownerships needs to stay out of publishing decisions like that. Once that line is crossed, hard news is next
From our piece last night: the Los Angeles Times has lost more than 18,000 of its fewer than 400,000 direct subscriptions in the week after its non-endorsement. 7k directly cited “editorial content” as their reason for unsubscribing.
This is ridiculous. I feel like I need to cancel my longtime subscription now. Ugh. I like supporting local news, but some of these owners make it really hard
NEWS
The editor of the Los Angeles Times editorial page has resigned after the owner blocked the editorial board from moving forward with an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I am resigning because I want to make it clear that I am not okay with us being silent. In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up.”

Kamala Harris: if you are undecided, go to a Trump rally
Harris supporter: bet, I’ll take my undecided niece
Undecided niece mid-way through Trump rally: I’m voting for Harris
One of two political parties fine w a nominee telling flat lies, demagoguing immigrants in the worst tradition of American politics and hustling every possible buck he can
Total acquiescence from most every elected Republican

Senator, you're misleading folks again. I just read the CBO report you recommend. It actually says that an immigration surge boosts federal revenues quite dramatically, and has only a small effect on mandatory spending and interest.
Our reporting found dozens of injured soldiers originally weren't awarded Purple Hearts, despite appearing to qualify, because for fear of undercutting Trump's assertion that the injuries were minor.
Following our report, they Army reversed course and awarded them the honor.
Senator, it's best to avoid selective screenshotting.
The prior paragraph (which your staff omitted), suggests that inflation has *fallen* partly due to immigration.
You only screenshotted the second paragraph, which says the effect *could* go the other way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
