The assumption that birth rates are falling across society in general is not really true.

People who identify as conservative are having almost as many children as they were decades ago.

The decline is overwhelmingly among those on the progressive left.

Things are hot and there's money to be made for people who are willing to go where the money is and work hard.

If you are young and single, but worried about the economy because of oil prices: Start looking at jobs in Houston, Texas and the Midland/Odessa area.

It doesn't have to be directly O&G related and it doesn't have to be a long term career. Take a year and make some money.
