Our guiding principles include looking at the whole system, following up early intervention, looking beyond test scores, and recognising that educational inequalities reflect wider inequalities in society.
Educational inequalities aren't just between poor and the rest. Every step up the income distribution is associated with better educational outcomes.
Even when poorer pupils meet benchmark levels of attainment (eg 5 "good" GCSEs) they very rarely do really well (A or A* grades)
