The rate of AI innovation right now is mind-blowing. At Google Marketing Live, I sat down with @JonKelly2 of @PuckNews for real talk on how business leaders can move past the initial hype cycle and turn the AI transformation into a truly expansionary moment for growth. Here is the TL;DR 👇
Personal AI experimentation is the best way to start. Aggressively apply AI in your personal life first.
Leaders can't credibly evangelize AI without acting as "Customer Zero." Every leader must be the Chief AI Officer for their team. I start meetings by feeding prep docs into Gemini to evaluate what's missing, discuss the output with the teams and then apply our human thinking “tokens” on top.
AI is excellent at simplifying the task. But that’s not the purpose of the job. A CMO’s purpose is driving profitable growth and market expansion. Hands-on mastery is what allows leaders to look at their organization and separate daily tasks from their ultimate purpose.
We’re seeing an expansionary moment happen across Search and YouTube. AI is helping us create entirely new opportunities for businesses, users, and creators to connect. Magic will also happen on the output side. Every element of the marketing value chain will be enhanced with AI, from generation to bidding to measurement.
My final takeaway: True innovation happens at the intersection of our customers’ and partners’ business insight and our ability to build cutting-edge tech at scale.
The rate of innovation right now is absolutely epic. Google has made a decade’s worth of progress in the last year alone. At #GML2026, we showed how we're turning bleeding-edge lab breakthroughs into game-changing business impact.
* Google Search is AI Search: We're making the biggest update to the Search box in 25 years so you can flow effortlessly between text, voice, images, and video. Because AI Mode queries are 3x longer, they deliver significantly richer intent signals for businesses.
* The Reinvention of Ads: AI Max for Search is out of beta and available globally. It’s driving 27% more conversions vs manual campaigns. At scale, every $1 spent on Google Search globally returns an incremental $6 back. This is real ROI.
* YouTube is a performance powerhouse. When a creator features a product, viewers are 13x more likely to search and 5x more likely to buy. Now, we’re testing "Ask YouTube" to turn discovery and shopping into a seamless conversation.
We move faster because we own the full AI stack—from chips to models to ads platforms. We're on track for a stunning $180B - $190B in CapEx this year to define the frontier. Literally investing in our customers and partners’ success.
Gemini Omni Flash combines Gemini’s intelligence with our generative media models to bring the full potential of native multimodality. It understands the world, can create anything from any input, and lets you shape the result through natural conversation. We’re starting with video output first.
We are rolling this out immediately at scale. Gemini Omni Flash is available to all Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers globally through the Gemini app and Google Flow. It’s also rolling out at no cost to users on YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create app.
We just announced Gemini Omni at I/O! 💥 Gemini Omni is our new model that can create anything from any input. To prove it, I used my voice, photo and a prompt to generate an 80s infomercial for a bike-mounted coffee machine. Look at the magic it created! 🧵
Why choose @YouTube in an increasingly crowded media landscape?
Because YouTube is the future of media. And it drives sales.
Last week, at #Brandcast, icons like @Trevornoah, @alexandracooper, and Kareem Rahma of @SubwayTakes announced new shows exclusively on YouTube. We also launched new tools that help brands connect with audiences across every screen to harness the power of creators.
I spoke with an incredible group of creators and long-standing customer partners. Hear why creators like @ItsAdamW, @Hopescope, @cleoabram, @kinigra, @RealDoctorMike or @epicgardening, and brands like @LOrealGroupe, @ATT, @Coach, @GM, @CHANEL or @WPP choose YouTube.
I was pitside at the Miami GP with @McLarenF1 and @ZBrownCEO and saw how @Google’s tech breakthroughs helped the team. Congratulations on the Sprint success and double-podium, @LandoNorris and @OscarPiastri! Examples:
- Randeep Singh, McLaren’s Racing Director, and team use Gemini to quickly make sense of the huge amounts of data they received each session (like lap time deltas) to improve on-track performance and guide critical decisions for qualifying and race setup.
- Andrea Stella, McLaren’s Team Principal, used a Pixel Fold and the larger display to review technical graphs while on the move.
- @LandoNorris told me he was using @GeminiApp to improve his sleep and recovery to battle jetlag and a packed schedule.
In F1, where milliseconds matter, how quickly you turn data into execution is what can make you win. A huge thank you to the entire McLaren team for your trust and the close collaboration with @GoogleDeepMind and @GoogleCloud teams!
I recently went around the world in three weeks to meet with our global teams. Such a rewarding trip, but I needed help dealing with the jet lag, so that I could bring 'game on' energy to all our teams.
My simple discovery: Gemini is the most incredible jet lag advisor I ever had.
I simply prompted it to be the best sleep and jet lag expert in the world, gave it my flight plan and meeting schedule which it pulled directly from my calendar via our Personal Intelligence feature. You can also type information directly in or attach docs.
I also specified that I don't want to timezone-adjust in each location – important for short stays! And I wanted to render it all in a nice and easy-to-read table.
Then, I asked it to tell me when to sleep, eat, workout, etc.
If a flight gets delayed, or a new meeting pops up, or you can't keep your eyes open for whatever reason, just let Gemini know in the same chat, and it will adjust.
The results: Magical!! I felt fully productive during the trip and popped back right into my time zone when coming back home.
Just be prepared to be put on a military or round-the-world sailing type of specialty sleep schedule for a few days. Or be sent to the gym at 2:30am local time. At least it's nice and empty then!
Game changer for my family & many in the Bay Area. I first rode in a ‘Waymo’ in early 2012, including on freeways interestingly. Sometimes magic takes a little while (and funding)! TY @dmitri_dolgov@TechTekedra@Waymo for the persistence and great work!

Asked Bigfoot to capture 5 takeaways from #CannesLions2025 (fully produced w/ Veo3 & Flow). Energized by convos we’re having w/ customers & partners & the opptys to bring the future of AI & creativity to life. Can’t wait to see the full impact on YouTube, Search, Ads, & beyond…
Cannes rocks - incredible to be here with so many customers and colleagues, talking growth and the future of marketing and creativity, and with a special focus on AI.
#GeminiLive in #AndroidXR glasses = game changer! Way beyond “traditional” smart glasses. Played w/them. Coached me on my basketball game (or lack of 🤣). #GoogleFlow#Veo3 generated a first-of-its-kind walking lifeguard tower. Can’t wait to get these to more people & businesses!
#GML2025 was 💥💥💥! Brought the best of Google AI to drive the best ROI for biz. Amazing feedback from customers, excited to test all the cool innovations, from Veo & Imagen powered creative tools to Smart Bidding Exploration, agentic capabilities & more! https://t.co/gT5fGla9rW
Just wrapped up #GoogleIO. So proud of the pace at which we’re innovating and bringing Google AI magic to billions. I had so much fun playing around with the latest Veo 3 model! We'll have more at #GML2025 tomorrow! Tune in https://t.co/E9TnzEzoNH
Brandcast in NYC was EPIC! YouTube truly is the epicenter of culture. No other platform brings together the most influential creators with the most passionate fans in the most important moments. The advertisers who tap into this see the results. Congratulations all!
It’s truly amazing to see so many of the features we talked about at I/O and Google Marketing Live rolling out. We’ve been testing new ad formats and Search capabilities - and the feedback speaks for itself.
We’re now at nearly 20 billion monthly visual searches - with 20% of those shopping-related. Our updates to Lens that let people search with videos, verbally ask questions about what they see, and read through in-depth product info has really taken it to the next level!
Tons of people are finding Ads in AI Overviews extremely helpful for finding businesses, products, and services that are relevant to what they’re looking for. With the holidays approaching, advertisers have more options than ever before to reach new customers.
Really great work to all the teams behind these launches, you can check out more here: https://t.co/8putPARbXF
I'm always blown away by how small businesses are using technology to stay competitive. We work hard every day to be the best partner possible - especially when it comes to using AI to unlock growth - and we know sharing our resources is essential to help level the playing field.
@Googleorg is providing $10 million in funding to America’s Small Business Development Center for their AI training programs, which will include a new workshop #GrowWithGoogle is launching.
Building on our AI Opportunity Fund, we’ve done a ton of work to help people succeed in this new environment. It’s clear that entrepreneurs who use AI can increase their sales, improve productivity, and ultimately reach more customers!

One of the greatest privileges of my time with Google has been meeting a truly remarkable woman - who, a few years earlier, rented out her garage to Larry and Sergey to help them pursue their dream. Anyone who has been fortunate enough to spend time with her will tell you that she was one of the most incredible people you could ever meet.
There was something uniquely special about her. Maybe it was her boundless positive energy, even in challenging times. Maybe it was her extraordinary warmth and genuine empathy towards other humans (few people have helped me with so much advice and care, especially when I moved my family to the US 12 years ago, and many times afterwards). Maybe it was her deeply values-driven approach to business (always protecting our culture while also evolving it where necessary - including in her advocacy for women’s rights and education across YouTube). Maybe it was the unmistakable clarity and pride she had in not just being an incredibly successful leader, but first and foremost, a beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, and member of her wonderful family.
I’m convinced it was a magical combination of all of the above - and so much more. Susan, it was the honor of a lifetime to have had you as a colleague, and friend, and share so many unforgettable moments. You really dreamed of making the world a better place - and there’s no question that you did. You will live on forever in the hearts of all the people you have impacted and touched so deeply. I will miss you for the rest of my life. My thoughts are with @dtroper, @annewoj23, Janet, and your family.
