@nextphlmayor It’s basically like kids that don’t wanna eat their Lima beans. Covering them up with mashed potatoes doesn’t magically make them go away.
@SNienow@JackPosobiec There is still some spectacular architecture in Norristown and it wouldn’t take a whole lot to revive the bleaker parts of the city meaningfully.
@MayorFrey Plenty of crime needlessly happened in American cities in the years following the George Floyd incident because many police officers lost their enthusiasm for their job. Cops began taking a more passive approach to their work for fear of appearing racist or undergoing scrutiny.
@chayesmatthew I can understand the need for unions to protect workers from ignored safety issues in certain hazardous jobs like coal mining, firefighting, etc. but it doesn’t seem like the level of risk in being a train engineer rises to that level
Taking a cognitive test in the first place isn’t something to really be proud about. If there aren’t potential diagnostic or clinical reasons there wouldn’t be a reason to take one in the first place.
@markgurman If I search for Starbucks when I’m visiting an unfamiliar city and it shows me Dunkin locations with a big “sponsored” badge above what I actually specifically searched for, I’m going to be annoyed
@DPearsonPHL I think part of the problem is they might not want to take a risk on issuing a quality of life citation / arrest when there’s even a slight chance the encounter escalates in a way that results in the officer’s judgment and decision making being questioned by the DA.
@Mrgunsngear "I know it's him," the woman, who declined to be publicly identified, told ABC7 in an interview at the scene. "I'm in shock. I don't want to lose my baby." Sick … I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if she encouraged the criminal behavior.
@ianzelbo I’ve noticed some apps are quite aggressive about re-prompting for “always” location access. For instance, I only let Dunkin get my location while using the app but every so often it insists on asking me to change location settings. Wish I could say “no, and don’t ask me again”
