B4 Andres Chaparro reached on a throwing error by Trea Turner, instead of a single. This makes all 4 runs scored in the inning now unearned to Jesus Luzardo

ANALYSIS: We brought this up when it happened, but Turner slides to a knee to get the ball and then rushes his throw and throws it oddly when he clearly didn't have to. The OS Manual says this about "rushing" plays.
"If a fielder fails to make an otherwise ordinary play because he rushes unnecessarily, the Official Scorer must determine whether the fielder should have realized he did not have to rush. If the Official Scorer believes the fielder should have realized he did not have to rush, the play should be scored an error. If the Official Scorer believes it would have been difficult for the fielder to know how much time he had given the nature of the play, then no error should be charged.
A good guideline for scorers to use is that an infielder who fields a ground ball should usually have a good idea of where the batter and runners are at the time he fields it, in which case rushing unnecessarily would constitute an error. This is different from an “extended play,” such as a batter trying to stretch a single into a double or a runner attempting to score from second on a base hit when it is typically much harder for the receiver of the throw to know where the runners are."
Clearly, Turner didn't have to rush this. He had the ball and his feet were set, so this was changed to an error.
I’ve lived in the US and in Europe. Here’s the truth:
1. Life is better with AC. It’s not up for debate.
2. Free refills are a gift. Seriously.
3. And ice in your Coke. Lots of it.
4. The food is fresher and more delicious in Europe. At least the fruits and vegetables in my part of Europe. And it isn’t close.
5. Life is better when you don’t have a waitress offering to bring you your check every 5 minutes. 2 hour dinners are a gift.
6. Americans spend too much time in their cars. I know why, but spending a huge chunk of your life looking out of a windshield stinks.
7. The churches in Europe are stunning. But they don’t seem to do much in them besides look at the architecture and adornments.
8. The drive-thru is a supremely American thing. You can do almost anything from your car window.
9. It’s true, ranch is delicious. So is Texas BBQ. And Chick-fil-A. Just trust me on this.
10. Coffee is meant to be sipped with friends, not gulped as you hustle to your next appointment.
I’m glad the world is experiencing America through the eyes of people instead of media. I hope most Americans will take the opportunity to return the favor someday.
Brek Liske credits his Flyers fandom growing up to his dad Lonnie:
"My dad has maybe 30 Flyers jerseys. At least five out here on the deck here."
Was a big Claude Giroux fan as a kid.
"The Flyers staff know my dad was a crazy Flyers fan, has an Orange Jeep with a Flyers license plate."
"Never heard my dad yell so loud (when he was drafted)."
In terms of comprehensive draft guides out there, the @eliteprospects one is far and away the best, and despite the fact they often lean skill, they had Maksim Sokolovskii #22 overall
"draft's meanest player...potential to become much more...top-four upside"
Most consecutive starts of 5+ IP in Phillies history (regular season only):
1. Curt Schilling: 87
2. Steve Carlton: 81
3. Cole Hamels: 65
4. Cliff Lee: 60
**5. Zack Wheeler: 53**
6. Roy Halladay: 52
** - including tonight
Zack Wheeler has a 2.03 ERA after his first 12 starts back from a blood clot/thoracic outlet decompression surgery. It's one of the best stories in baseball.
It’s pretty remarkable that they went from 10 games under .500 before the All-Star break to 10 games over .500 also before the All-Star break.
We were just begging for them to be in the hunt at the All-Star break, now they’re in the mix for the division.
The 10 game losing streak is over at Citi Field.
Wheeler was brilliant, we’ll be talking about the Hill catch for a long time and Trea is heating up.
Oh, and Jhoan Durán is now 88 saves away from passing Jonathan Papelbon for the team’s all time saves record.

@domluszczyszyn Ya, we all are. Hoping Martone and Michkov are stars and Danny's strategy of acquiring former high picks for cheap works. Its sort of like what Carolina did except for that 2OA on Svechnikov.
Orion Kerkering just went into “F it” mode.
Allows a leadoff 2B, then throws 9 straight fastballs.
2 K, then gets Jorbit Vivas to ground out on his sweeper.
Lot of guts there from Kerkering.
