@thewolvenhour I’m with you. There’s a certain something about the musty old smell of old books. Some people think it stinks. They don’t realize that’s what history smells like
@rabbriansamuel Where in Exodus and in the Midrash does it say this? All I got for 70 is at the beginning of Exodus 1 the total number of descendants of Jacob is 70
@HomerPavlos Thats what makes him great. His stories had such relevance that people could quote him as easily as we quote the bible and they also had scenes from his stories depicted on pottery
@archeohistories And that is why I am proud to be of Polish heritage. He saved western civilization. History would’ve been very different if the Ottomans triumphed
@bvrakvs So long as you pay your legions their worth they should be ok. Also, putting them to work on public infrastructure should help keep their minds off other things
@narendramodi I read in one book it said that Britain tried cultivating Assam because it was native to India. They were kind of hoping to cut China out as a middle man regarding source material
@infantrydort I know it’s just a video game but a few missions set on Okinawa on Call of Duty: World at War really helped drive home for me how brutal the fighting was. They were literally prepared to sacrifice one man for every inch lost
@ibrhmjms@SebaVenier96@RomeInTheEast Actually the Ottomans lasted roughly 460 or so years if you take the fall of Constantinople in 1453 as a starting point. I think any country or civilization lasting as long as they have is quite the achievement. Heck, USA is celebrating 250 and we’re doing relatively ok
