@BleacherReport@minnesotalynx I've been following the Lynx because of Pili. I got excited when she sunk those 3-pointers. Keep up the good work Pili! Go Lynx!
The concept of Universal Basic Income isn't about discouraging hard work, it's about ensuring everyone has the fundamental necessities to survive. Our society should not be one where survival is a privilege. It's time we make it a right. Basic income is not charity, it's justice.

@smooshypuss@thegreatinstau1@scottsantens Well said! Better working conditions and better incentives would exist for people to continue doing essential work like that, which would likely lead to increased job satisfaction and work production. It would probably lead to new innovations we can't even dream of yet.
I think he called it a "peace" dividend. Vivek has many similarities to Yang but he runs on the Republican ticket. I am by no way trying to endorse him but I do find it interesting, and very relieving, that there is someone on the Republican ticket talking about dividends.
@scottsantens I don't know if you follow Vivek Ramaswamy, but he mentioned something about a "peace" dividend from cutting back on military spending and also taking cyber attacks more seriously, kinda like Yang did in his 2020 run. It's at the 33:00 mark:

"For 18 different tasks selected to be realistic samples of the kinds of work done at an elite consulting company, consultants using ChatGPT-4 outperformed those who did not, by a lot. On every dimension. Every way we measured performance."
"Consultants using AI finished 12.2% more tasks on average, completed tasks 25.1% more quickly, and produced 40% higher quality results than those without."
"We also found something else interesting, an effect that is increasingly apparent in other studies of AI: it works as a skill leveler. The consultants who scored the worst when we assessed them at the start of the experiment had the biggest jump in their performance, 43%, when they got to use AI. The top consultants still got a boost, but less of one."
Fascinating results of an experiment designed to test what existing AI is capable of.
We aren't ready for this, but it's already here. We need to protect everyone from the downsides (job loss, income loss, and insecurity) and also make sure everyone benefits from the upsides (increased productivity and quality).
We need a solid income floor no one is allowed to fall beneath, and a productivity dividend that flows to all equally and grows as productivity grows. We need universal basic income indexed to GDP per capita.

@SigmaActivity Sure, I understand what the gentleman was trying to accomplish. But I think just explaining to her how she should be treated would've sufficed. I would even go as far as having the little sister third wheel on an actual date.
I'm sure he means well but the optics look sus.
@scottsantens what's the biggest thing the government can do to make UBI easier to implement? For me, it's cutting back on military spending and having that cash circulate back through the economy.
