Another recently completed comm. I've offered FEH-style chibis for forever, but I finally got to doodle a proper summoner OC! (I forgot how detailed the summoner coat was - that was hard >_>)
The biggest part about writing (or anything creative) is being able to keep doing it even when your work isn't doing well. Not every idea is a winner. If you get bored, that's one thing. If you drop it because it's not getting attention? Yeah. Says a lot
Was one of the people who said 'write for yourself' but I'll add this: wanting interaction/feedback is fine, but if that's your primary motivation for doing things, you're in for a lot of disappointment, and probably a sign you're doing it for wrong reasons. Do it bc you love it.
If one more person tells me to write for myself Iโm gonna crash out. And by crash out I mean Iโm gonna write a whole ass essay about why thatโs fake af and make every person who says that read the whole thing.
I've mainly written and published original fiction, but this still applies to fanfics: write for yourself (I know it's been said already), write to just get your ideas out there, write to have something completed. I personally hate leaving projects orphaned or unfinished.
This is dumb and vulnerable and I may regret asking and delete, but here goes anyway: fic writers, how do you deal with the heartbreak of having a project you were very excited about absolutely flopping? I had a bunch more planned & written. I canโt bring myself to open the doc
@kikoyochanVt All the time. I'm not going to criticize people's design tastes and what they want out of their vtuber designs, but whenever I design characters myself, I try to make them simpler and easier to replicate. Especially for cosplay. I've heard nightmare stories of gacha char cosplay
Commercial usage is a big deal, which is why the upcharge is so large; its fair compensation in lieu of royalties. Also, yeah. If you decide to make merch later without commercial use, the artist CAN sue you or make a fuss and be justified for it.
Been doing this for nearly 20 years now. Commercial use fees are for if the client intends on mass producing or redistributing the work via merch or part of other subscription-locked content. Normally you'd get royalties, but this way you're pmuch selling the rights to reproduce
I use Scrivener for organizing and formatting my final drafts intended for print/publication. It's a paid program ($60 USD, I think), but it's a one-time fee.
For writing on the go, I've switched to Ellipsus. In the process of transferring all my Google docs over there.
hey writers what programs do you use when youโre writing? google docs trains ai with your writing and word is too expensive. anyone have suggestions?
Friend ran a 5e conversion of this module back when I was learning, and it was one of the best experiences I had. The little tweaks he made and how it handled was super fun, and it felt like you were having an effect on the course of events.
Red Hand of Doom is one of my favorite modules, and it kind of made itself sandboxy by not forcing players to encounter the hobgoblin horde every chance they could, but instead had a win condition based on VPs and a timeline that players can delay.
IDK if I liked it for the VP system (I normally hate VPs in board games) or in spite of it, but I don't think I've read another module that worked quite like this.
So. There's this thing called 'liability'. Work at a bar and let someone drive drunk and they get into an accident? Liable. Party at your house and there's a fight? Liable. You're the manager of your space and what happens in it; having minors in it creates a LOT of complications
@AshEkrixi Hard agree; in the same boat myself. I do so much stuff already. Run TTRPGs once or twice a week, art comms, working on VO projects, spend time with the hubby. "Oh, it's easy! Just sacrifice more of your life for growth!" Eff that. How about spending time on stuff I enjoy. >_>
