Today is my birthday and I'm celebrating by launching the big story update that brings Act 1 to its epic conclusion!
I crunched on this until 6 AM last night and sprinted through it today... but it's FINALLY HERE!
Please enjoy and share this! MADHOUSE on Steam :)
Final Fantasy VII isn't my favorite game in the series, but it's probably got the most nostalgic soundtrack of them all. For me, it represents being a teenager, seeing a series I loved finally break into mainstream popularity, and many fond memories of playing the game itself.
@colorgravemhin I think I got the best results from exhibiting my game at a gaming expo in my city, although it was also a couple days after release so it's hard to tell what moved the needle. Anything I try to post about it on here is usually dead in the water, unfortunately.
@KainYusanagi@JohnOkure10871 No, but that looks kinda cool! It was visually more on par with something like this, I think... but I can remember almost nothing about it so who knows? https://t.co/WthZa1C4Fm
@king_of_games34 A lot of these beautifully rendered pixel art games are just showcases of nice art without having a fun game behind them. My game is the opposite. It doesn't look as good as that screenshot but it's very design and gameplay forward.
Tightened up the graphics on these treetop tiles that always bothered me in MADHOUSE. They're still not perfect but I think I'm done polishing them for now... Now I'm going to have to rework some of the other graphics so the treetops aren't mogging the rest of the game, lol
It's crazy but kind of cool how a man will lose the love of his life and just turn that passion towards his work, grinding in solitude and building his dreams for the remainder of his life.
@DanPaladin@finalbossblues Pisses me off because I've been a game designer since 1988 in one capacity or another; pen and paper, then rom hacking, then game dev. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing your life's dream of almost 40 years minimized by the fact that literally everyone else is now doing it.
@Orion7862@finalbossblues True but this is in reference to indie devs with established cred and huge budgets. 95% of other indies aren't even on the same playing field.
