For the last 20 years, I have quietly but not always privately asked where would be the most effective starting point for change.
There are 3 accepted components to a students academic development. The child them self is one. To my knowledge, there has not been an evolutionary change in the way the human brain learns requiring a whole different approach to teaching children.
Component 2 is us teachers. Compared to any point in the modern historical period of our country, current teachers and those few preparing to teach are more highly and expertly trained to elicit the best learning from students in content through best practices.
This leaves component 3. PARENTS. I encourage you to assess the proficiency of current parenting techniques as you see fit. Keep in mind, this requires you to be intellectually honest with your evaluation.
I believe, as a teacher, this component has the greatest capacity for growth and improvement. I have taught in Title 1 schools my entire career, low SES populations, so I have seen the disconnect of current parents when compared to my boomer parent. Do note I mentioned parent and NOT parents. I grew up in a similar environment. Single mom, busting her behind to take care of her 2 girls, so much so that she requested special payment arrangements with a private Catholic school, not a scholarship situation but a payment of tuition that includes some flexibility that she was able to afford because she understood that a strong educational opportunity was one of the best ways she could make certain her Gen-X daughters would not struggle financially the way she did prior to remarrying 10 years after our family unit was drastically changed from what my mom had envisioned for her girls.
In my professional opinion, component 3 has been the elephant in the educational room for several generations now. Low income Americans seem to not be able to genuinely reflect on the effectiveness of their current parenting model which has regressed, in my opinion, and have led to dire consequences on their children's cognitive exploration, growth and eventual maturity.
I do concede that many parents' primary goal/effort/focus is food, shelter and clothing for their children and when these necessities may be/are in doubt, the family can experience a genuine struggle to find the time/focus/energy to be an engaged party to their students learning. As a country, state, city, community, neighborhood and culture this component appears to be the one most needing reflection, possible redirection, then appropriate action. Thank you and God Bless ππΌ
I have always advocated that Americans above 21 y.o., live in another country for at least 3 months & then return home. You will develop a new, highly positive, level of appreciation for the US & our way of life! I worked in Doha, Qatar for 3 months and I take nothing for granted as an American citizen!
I truly despise Bill Maher, but he actually is doing the American people a true service by reminding us exactly how good we actually have it, compared to the rest of the world! It took our Awesome POTUS to bring it forward, but Bill, for once brings light instead of Bull Shit!
@SteveInmanClips Time to reintroduce the old addage of, "Stop writing checks that your ass can't cash!", into our lexicon! These youngins need some old schoolin'!
@trumplicans2024 If a first grader asks where babies come from, the only answer that has EVER crossed my lips in the classroom is, "Your question is a great question to ask your Mom!" Finish with a big smile and continue on with my day!
Believe the roll out is US only at this time, from what I gather. Boss has been working on this X money aspect for multiple years just to get it going in the US. I imagine a world wide roll out in the future to streamline international transactions but US banking regulations are cumbersome at best!
@greg16676935420 To play devils advocate here: Do you ever wonder how much food is WASTED because it was NOT eaten during the breakfast hours? If the food is not going to waste, why does it matter WHO actually eats it?

@TeslaAIBot@greg16676935420 Opti, as a genuine ginger human, you can't possibly understand the pain of a sunburn, no offense! It is and can be severely debilitating! Your one lucky humanoid!
