If you are still using this model:
Teach unit 1
Revision lesson
Exam on unit 1
Teach unit 2
Revision lesson
Exam on unit 2
Etc
End of year exam
...then you are setting students up to forget everything.
This is a hugely important piece by @PamelaSnow2. A very insightful application of cognitive load theory to neurodivergence and trauma-informed classroom practice. To the best of my knowledge there is no research on this topic and this has really illuminated my understanding on the topic both as a researcher but more importantly as a SEN parent. I do hope Pam explores this area further. https://t.co/O7YD4EDFbA

Check. Adapt.
A useful resource for teachers shared by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF)
Many misunderstand, so pause and fix.
Some are unsure, so adapt support.
Most understand, so extend and support.
Teachers make so many decisions each day, this resource offers helpful advice about what to do & when informed by evidence captured in a lesson.
@adamboxer1 When a std says I don't know in response to a question I now often follow up with "Ok no problem, just to check you were listening can you please repeat the question?". I think that was on the pod!
@adamboxer1 Could they have looked at the students work and made the improvement steps more actionable and specific. "Quite a lot of you have done this, if that is you I want you to take this action to improve your work" This coupled with some examples and non examples might help?

@ChatPhysics I imagine most 11-16 have disposed of sources due to financial and workload implications, would be very interested in how post 16 providers do the RP without sources though.
SEND provision is the last bastion of unevidenced practice
‘EHCPs and documents like Pupil Passports often include adaptations and interventions for which there is no evidence of efficacy beyond placebo or Hawthorne effects.
These include fidget toys, wobble cushions, sensory tents and even learning styles, which have been debunked and driven out of education everywhere else.’
