Congratulations to our year 12 students who took part in the Seren's British Physics olympiad. There was 1 gold award, 4 silver awards, and 2 bronze awards on thus very challenging competition.

Our team of brilliant students made the national finals of the UK Space Design Competition. Here they are before it all started on Saturday morning. A total of 269 students from 28 schools have been working through the night from 10am yesterday, now for the 4 presentations!

Globule: A dense region within a nebula contracting due to gravity.

Protostar: The early stage of a star's formation, where nuclear fusion begins.

Brown Dwarf: A failed star that never ignites nuclear fusion fully.

Main Sequence Star: A stable phase where the star fuses hydrogen into helium.

Red Giant: An expanded, cooling star running out of hydrogen fuel.

White Dwarf: The remnant core of a low-mass star, glowing faintly.

Black Dwarf: A theoretical cooled white dwarf no longer emitting light.

Supernova: A powerful explosion marking the death of a massive star.

Neutron Star: A dense, compact core left behind after a supernova.

Black Hole: A region of space with gravity so strong that not even light escapes, formed after the collapse of a massive star.
