Thought I’d have a stab at how I go about explaining common back pain themes. This made me realise I’m actually pretty lowsy at doing this with a lot of room to improve. Apologies if they aren’t your ☕️
Physios uses analogies to help with concept simplification to aid patient understanding.
A thread on the common analogies that I have learnt to use🧵
PS: Not all analogy will work so exercise caution with this.

If I had been through the same algorithm as A-levels yesterday I wouldn’t be a doctor.
My wife wouldn’t be a surgeon.
Let that sink in.
This is a monumental failure.

Today.

I told the wife of a 47 year old that he is dying over FaceTime.
I bronched a #COVID19 patient who mucous plugged. It saved his life. Risked mine.
This fantastic dissection image of the posterior rotator cuff has been making the rounds on Instagram, and rightfully so: it's a great perspective. I'll add my own take: the long head of the triceps is the part that jumps out at me the most. Read more: https://t.co/nnQImOCzQk
Are you sure you want to MRI the painful shoulder of that volleyball player? What are you going to do with the findings?
