How it started / How it's going
On 25th October 1978, 507001 ran to Kirkby with a *very* special passenger on board. 48 years later, Liverpool's own Royal Train is looking as good as ever, thanks to the support of our members and our dedicated engineering team.
Vinny survived a horrific cat attack that cost him an ear. He could so easily have lost his life 💔
But here he is, safe, loved and quietly enjoying a chestnut. Every little moment is a miracle for this big brave boy 🌰🩵
Taken on this day eight years ago while staying in Sheffield. It was purely by chance, but, looking back, I'm glad I got an opportunity to capture this. Another reminder of how it's important to get shots of what's routine before it disappears into the past.
#OnThisDay 66 years ago the 1,387yds long Severn Bridge was partially demolished by two out of control tanker barges, ironically while works were ongoing to strengthen it to carry heavier locos. Sadly five lives were lost. Image of the aftermath from here: https://t.co/rxPS2xWTu2
The early spring sunshine illuminates the scene near County March summit on the West Highland Line. 37410 ‘Aluminium 100’ and its classmate work the southbound freight.

With the Argyle Line between Partick and Rutherglen closed this weekend for planned engineering work, @NetworkRailSCOT has removed low-level’s wall panelling for refurbishment.
It’ll look a wee bit different for @ScotRail passengers on Monday morning. Thanks for bearing with us!
🫶Our youngest resident - Gervais hasn't appeared on social media for a while but wanted you to see her looking so grown up now - eyes on the camera & hoping for a treat maybe🥕❗ She's full of confidence & very inquisitive bless her 🧡👀

Tyne and Wear Metrocars 4041 & 4081 top & tail a RHTT wagon as they pass through Bank Foot on a RHTT working 19.10.26. 4041 & 4081 are 2 of 4 Metrocars kept temporarily for RHTT work, the other Metrocar units are now either scrapped or preserved. https://t.co/SDM5UCu1LD
Very very sad to hear North Tyneside Council are looking to demolish this on the grounds of safety.
Over the past 40 years we’ve gone from hundreds of these to a handful. To see this gone brings back the same emotions as the Dorman Long tower on Teesside.

3J52, Brough - Malton Up Sidings jetting its way through Selby today with 37057 & 37219 providing the traction. The RHTT set works from York Thrall Europa round here. The weather is cold, but thanks to a hot summer and wet autumn, leaves are yet to fall in any quantity. 23/10/26
Hello from a soggy Stafford 👋
560051 has been doing the Bradwell - Basford Hall runs this week so thought I should get it. Attempted a @DownOnTheStour style shot low down and I’m pleased with how it turned out 🤔

#OnThisDay 4 years ago, Bond Street Elizabeth Line station opened, five months after the rest of the line. Hanover Square exit has the second longest flight of escalators on the TfL network after Angel tube. Photo by Robert Camp on Flickr https://t.co/FP21rH5M8Q
#StormAusten disrupted our railway yesterday with eight trees coming down. Sorry.
Everyone was able to get home due to the efforts of our response team and 10 chainsaw teams who dealt with trees which our traincrew could not remove.
Good to see our flood cameras operational 👇
