Man the older I get the more the local stuff hits different. Property taxes, roads, schools right here in Newberry and Gainesville feel like they matter a whole lot more than the national noise.

Alachua County keeps having these funding fights over schools and roads while everyone in Tallahassee argues about national stuff that doesn't fix a single pothole here. Tired of it.

How lucky I was as a kid: Florida Gators football fanship started in 1990/1991 as a 10 year old. I watched a lot of sports. Braves fan, Bulls fan when Jordan came back, Cowboy's fan when they drafted Emmitt Smith, and Buccaneers fan when they drafted Errict Rhett. I didn't jump onboard when they were having success. I got to see the build and then championship wins, so many. I did not know how good I had it as a fan.

You won't here one good thing about the ACPS system from me. Literally pulled my kid from school because the vice principal refused to faithfully apply my kid's IEP and my kid's teacher refused to communicate, citing "anxiety", and their union sent a representative to the IEP meetings. The teacher got more accommodations than my child! Daily calls and suspensions progressed until we had to pull him out to preserve his mental health. 7 year old btw.

Everyone worries about whether AI can become conscious. After spending a lot of time working with AI and seeing that it mostly generates its best guess based on training data, I'm starting to wonder if humans do much the same thing. Now I'm less curious whether AI is conscious, and more curious whether anyone is.
