Watching the trial of Caleb Flynn, I’m not confused about the shape of this case.

An “intruder” who opens a garage, finds a 9mm in a truck, walks to the bedroom, shoots Ashley twice in the head while she looks asleep, leaves no track for the dog, no heat for the drone, and disappears — while the husband is already in the house with two sleeping girls — is a hard story.

Caleb was the intruder.
Not a stranger through the garage. Him. Staging it.

The texts are harder. You don’t write “ways to kill her and not go to jail” and “I choose you, I’m free, actions tomorrow, February 16” the night before your wife dies in that bed and then act shocked when a jury stares at you.

An outside killer doesn’t need a speech about February 16 the night before. He does.

Defense is right about one thing: cheating is not murder. No GSR, no gun in evidence, rushed investigation — those are real holes.

But they don’t erase motive + opportunity + a scene that only works if you believe a ghost with a key.

Mistress as the shooter? Doesn’t scan. She wasn’t in that hallway at 2:30 a.m.

I’m allowed to say the state’s opening sounded like a man who wanted out and wrote the ending first.

Ashley was a mom and a coach. The girls were in the next room. That’s the part that should sit with people more than American Idol.
