@robinreadsop I think Gaban meant something more by saying, "If you want to make Luffy the Pirate King, become a king yourself." Since Sanji doesn't have CoC yet, maybe Gaban was hinting that Sanji will eventually unlock or master CoC/ACoC, as it's often called the Supreme King's Haki.

My theory: Candella was likely working with Holynight/Imu. To use Domi Reverse on someone, Imu probably needed to posses a body to enter that place. I think Imu entered through Candella, used Domi Reverse on Shuri and Ruven, then left her body which caused her death
