Maybe finally, after the @MHSAA takes a thorough look at the private-public issue in Michigan high school athletics, they’ll review the data, demographics, championship results, member-school input and all of my losses to private schools and realize I’m only crying about this because I can’t beat them.

A Classification Committee and task force reviewing the evidence is exactly the kind of deliberate process this topic deserves.

Wherever the findings ultimately lead, I hope they decide to vacate all of those private school wins against me.

As an AD, I remind our coaches that all the knowledge in the world about your sport does not matter if you cannot teach it or communicate it. Great coaches are not just experts in X’s and O’s, they are teachers, leaders, and communicators. Athletes do not need a coach who simply knows more, they need a coach who can connect, explain, motivate, and hold them accountable. If your players cannot understand it, trust it, or apply it, then knowledge alone has no value. The best coaches turn knowledge into growth, confidence, and ultimately wins.
