@B13vins@1011_News @JohnGrinvalds Try Germany. I have loads of fun partying at Oktoberfest where they don't have balloon releases or single use plastics and it's not controversial π₯³
@Perl_of_Wisdom@1011_News @JohnGrinvalds I actually received my B.S segrees in Economics and Environmental Economics from UNL :) The benefits didn't outweigh the costs with this one
@bstauden@1011_News @JohnGrinvalds I'm quite happy with myself βΊοΈ And I don't have cats, but having pets tends to make people happier and more empathetic so I suggest trying it if you don't have any
@GingerProblemz@1011_News @JohnGrinvalds It's a prime example of empathy and caring about the consequences of littering. Multiple studies have shown how balloons travel thousands of miles and hurt animals. Many states have banned balloon releases for this reason.
@Husker__Chief @SunglassesVisor @n0ne0fthebel0w @1011_News @JohnGrinvalds This would take research, money, resources, etc to track the balloons which Husker Atheltics doesn't prioritize, so we go with the countless articles about balloons and research from other universities about it. Clemson did a study and tracked it before they banned their release
These are only controversial things in the US...I've been in Germany for 5 weeks now and have yet to have anybody tell me they disagree with any of these statements
Ohhh, I can block the Twitter Blue reply guys all at once...they're always right at the top.
Hey! Hey...trans women are women! Climate change is caused by people! Healthcare is a human right! Birth control should be free and abortion should be legal!
"It's not only the swomee swans, barbaloot bear and humming fish that are disappearing. It's the whooping crane, the salt creek tiger beetle, the pallid sturgeon, great cultural symbols of the state of Nebraska, vanishing."

Princeton sociologist Matthew Desmond says if the top 1% of Americans paid the taxes they owed, it would raise $175 billion each year.
"That is just about enough to pull everyone out of poverty," the author says. https://t.co/YI9b4yuuVE
#Climatechange is disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations - 80% of people displaced are women and girls. Not only do they need to survive, but also care for their families in fear of heightened violence. #WomensHistoryMonth#EJFriday
