PPAs have been used in Nebraska to access financial incentives that were available only to entities with tax liability.

Generation closer to load has benefits, but it's a tradeoff with land price/availability close to the urban area.

I want coal out of my district. OPPD needs to be supporting, encouraging, and installing clean energy on homes and businesses. This will increase reliability, decrease costs, and provide resilience.

Vehicle OEMs demonstrated shocking ignorance of science. ICE vehicles waste ~2/3 of energy to heat, and $$ for H2 delivery infrastructure would be astronomical.
My 2015 Leaf was great, so is my current 2018 Leaf. I look forward to improvements that will come with my next EV.
Hydrogen cars were dead before they left they starting gate.
This is because the performance merits of EVs significantly overshadow those of hydrogen vehicles.
From and engineering perspective EVs convert a high percentage of grid electricity into power at the wheels, with efficiencies often exceeding 90%, translating to a well-to-wheel efficiency of about 70-80%. In contrast, hydrogen vehicles suffer from lower efficiency due to the energy losses involved in production, compression, and conversion back to electricity through fuel cells.
Battery technology in EVs provides increasing range with improving energy density, while hydrogen storage requires complex, heavy, and costly systems for compression or liquefaction. Safety concerns with hydrogen include its high flammability, which necessitates stringent safety measures.
There is a reason @SpaceX does not use hydrogen based rockets. Itโs because itโs insanely complex and dangerous
Additionally, EVs benefit from instant torque delivery and regenerative braking, enhancing performance and efficiency. The infrastructure for EVs is also more scalable, leveraging the existing electrical grid, whereas hydrogen infrastructure is less developed and more costly.
When thinking about the future of technology itโs good to underwrite to first principles physics. All this was known years ago and Toyota made a huge mistake investing in hydrogen which they are now fortunately correcting
