Every shelter has dogs everyone notices.

And then there are dogs like Nova.

Came in as a stray. Heartworm positive. Spent her days curled up in the back of a kennel trying not to take up too much space. Didn’t trust people. Didn’t know if people were worth trusting.

Then somebody opened the door.

A leash. A little patience. A walk. A few pets. Then she started playing again.

That’s the hard part about rescue videos. You realize how fast they remember how to be dogs once somebody shows up.

They made her a promise.

Hope somebody helps them keep it.

When 2 year old Jack fell into a backyard pool and began sinking, his 4 year old brother Hutch didn’t panic. Wearing his own life jacket, Hutch jumped in and held his little brother’s head above water until help arrived.

Think about that for a second.

A 4 year old child saw his baby brother in trouble and did what many adults hope they’d have the courage to do in a crisis.

No fame. No cameras. No hesitation.

Just a big brother protecting his little brother.

The world could use a lot more Hutch Hubbards.
