We resorted to using play sand to make sandbags to protect our office & The Play Sanctuary. 🌊 ⚠️ 😬
Good luck to all tenants & staff at @scrapstoreGlos overnight 🤞🍀
School #SuDS defence is still going strong💧☀️
🪻 The attractive #raingardens were planted almost a year ago as part of a wider transformative project in @wfcouncil to address issues stemming from heavy rainfall and reduce the risk to the school.
🚸 Covering an area of 111 m2 with over 750 plants, the rain gardens are enhancing local #biodiversity, helping to reduce pollution and create a secure, green barrier between the road and the school pavement.
🌱 School children helped us plant a section of the rain gardens - take a look and find out more:

Today it is the UK's turn to experience serious flooding due to intense rainfall.
A reminder that UK rainfall intensity has increased markedly over the past 60+ years. All consistent with the physics of a warming atmosphere which is now more humid.

The role of street trees 🌳in reducing flash-flooding🌊
Simply, they SLOW THE RATE🏃♂️rainwater builds up in our streets 👇
🫴Holding water in their canopies
🧽 Roots enable the ground to absorb more water
Plus 🌳🌳🌳they cool our cities, thus lowering air moisture. Pretty cool😎

If life is in danger, ring 999.
Thinking of everyone who worked so hard on today’s cancelled celebrations. Holst was way ahead of his time in a lot of ways, caring deeply for nature and our planet. Building community resilience to extreme weather is vital in our changing world.
Postponed! The Holst 150 celebration that was due to take place this afternoon in Imperial Gardens is to be rearranged, due to last night’s torrential rain, and the forecast of further rain and thunderstorms today ⛈️. We're sorry about this and will share new plans when we can.
Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.
ALL ROAD USERS.
And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them.
