The audacity of these people is enraging.
Their movement hijacked progressive politics for years, and tarnished the Democratic brand with normie voters, just now starting to heal in spite of their actions.
And now they're like "that was so 2021, stop bringing all that up"?
One of the things that often turns me off about progressive candidates is how they often turn their views to a "national movement" before even actually winning their races
I'd really prefer if Rabb focused on representing my interesting in PA-3 for a term or two first
Gallup's new poll finds Americans continue to sour on LGBT issues relative to 2022.
The share of Americans who say:
- Same-sex marriage is valid: Down 6 pts
- Gay/lesbian relations morally acceptable: Down 9 pts
- Changing one’s gender morally acceptable: Down 8, to just 38%
@nataliemj10 I just don't get it. It was incredibly unprofessional behavior, immature even. These kind of antics make Bari Weiss look like the serious person in the room.
@igorbobic@jbarro This is like that episode of Fargo where Dave Foley's political consultant pays a bunch of guys to legally change their name to be the same as Jon Hamm's far-right candidate just so they can all show up to a debate and get under his skin.
It’s much more dignified to say that you support Graham Platner regardless of his scandals than doing the mental gymnastics to insist that most people will be more appalled by a staffer than a man repeatedly cheating on his wife right after getting married
@EsotericCD "Who was the bigger jerk: Ted Williams or Joe DiMaggio?": the greatest thread in the history of forums, locked by a moderator after 12,239 pages of heated debate.
@cambrownwrites@ettingermentum And if you asked a curious question, it was acceptable for people to scold you and say "it's not my job to educate you." Also, if you didn't speak up on the issue of the day (racism, Gaza, trans issues), then you were complicit in evil.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
For those of us (nearly everyone) who recognize Woke 1.0 as a failure, what’s something specific you’re willing to say it got wrong? Here’s mine: the practice of describing policies that were, like, Kerner Commission recommendations as “prison abolition” to get attention was dumb
Need my Philadelphia progressives to get on Zohrans level. Embrace yimby and enforcement of quality of life issues and the gates of the city will be yours for the taking.
Maybe everyone who was into this discourse has just left the platform, but it strikes me that this is the rare case in which the discourse has actually improved in recent years: nobody has any tolerance for this sort of casual, woke racism from surplus elites anymore.
A Jewish couple just wanting a place to stay, they’ve paid for the room.
Greeted with “fReE pAlEsTiNe” and “bAbY kIlLer”
Pure discrimination from this hotel employee.
I don’t even know what to say anymore with these entitled terrorist supporting pricks.
I'm a linguist by education. I'm calling it. "Zionist" is now used as a slur. It means "Jew" with a cloud of imprecise negative connotations. That's how the word is used by gentiles now. Obviously others have called it before. I'm just adding my voice, here.
"White people shouldn't sit on the stoop in Bed-Stuy" sounds batshit crazy if you think of New York as a place where people live, but to hipster transplants it's an urban amusement park and that's like Aladdin walking around Space Mountain.
A big way you know that “woke” is definitely dead is 4-8 years ago, no one on the left would’ve come out to criticize the lady on Subway Takes’s narcissistic Bed-Stuy position.
Progress!
(Also so many takes on those videos are just reactionary conservatism reframed as hip)
Unpopular take: Maybe Israel/Gaza wasn't much of a factor for Harris in 2024. Slotkin, Gallego, Rosen, Baldwin, Stein all won in swing states that Harris lost holding positions on Israel similar to the WH. Shapiro has sky high approval in PA. #DNCAutopsy
Story as old as time. Gentrifying and high-educated whites prefer the progressives. Black and working-class folks prefer the establishment Democratic line. #PA03
As @drtedj likes to point out: Older Black voters are not overwhelmingly liberal. Historically, they are arguably the moderating force in the Democratic Party. Some of it is rooted in pragmatism. Some is rooted in ideology.
