@joncoopertweets It's almost like Trump supporters don't understand economics... Might drive manufacturing home in like 15 years, but it's gonna be a long painful road to that, and you know what the prices will look like then? The same as with the tariffs. No company gonna *reduce* profits.
@joncoopertweets To those who are saying "Buy domestic", even if there were cars made entirely in the US (parts and all), do you think that those manufacturers would just keep their prices at the same level as all the other manufacturers raised their prices?
@Shem_Infinite@WhiteHouse This. This right here. This is why Trump is moving the Overton window with this idiot king trolling. Because these unamerican bootlickers do not care about self-governance. They will soon happily hand Trump a forever presidency.
@realDonaldTrump Hey, MAGA. This guy swore "to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". The Constitution does not make the President a king.
So apparently Elon does not have a Secret Service detail (for now). He just has these three buff dudes walking him around. Sure hope no one tries to hurt him. That would be terrible! Just terrible!
@FlavusMold@elonmusk Because those "fines" are actually payments going back to consumers who were getting scammed by predatory financial institutions. Not fines.
@toottootchoo@MattBinder π― we need to get government out of the government business. No agencies. No Congress. No President. No courts. We will assemble anarcho-syndicate communes and go back to farming and live in sub-Dunbar-sized villages, and we will live to the ripe age of 40. It will be utopia.
@ScottCourv33772@hodgetwins Gotta say, man. There was ample warning his proposed policies would be inflationary. I'm honestly trying to understand the mindset of people who voted for him wanting lower prices. What was your thinking during the election? βοΈ thanks
@Ann113043125177 Hi. Asking sincerely. Were you aware he was planning on tariffs when you voted for him? And if so, how did you think about that? I'm trying to understand the mindset of his voters. Thanks.
@SamGradyWrites @josh_vindaloo @SocDoneLeft Combating inflation means that prices increase more slowly, not prices going down. 2% per year is target - the econ is chugging while minimizing inflation. Biden managed to get us below 3% from the peak of 8% or so. Inflation is already clicking again, & tariffs won't help.
@DanielBalcombe Yep. Here's to hoping. People forget too, but if you go back to Obergefell argument (possibly Windsor argument), it was actually the Chief Justice that came up with the rationale that became the rationale in Bostock. Let's hope these two can see that that makes sense here too.
@RonDeSantisUSA I give Gorsuch a lot of credit as an *actual* (usually) consistent textualist/originalist. His decision in Bostock was just the correct reading. I think this case is not as legally clear, but Bostock definitely was.
@DanniBrener So right. We need to use the power of the government to force people to live in particular ways a majority of legislators see fit. We can't have people choosing how to live their own lives, and choosing what to do with their own bodies. Preposterous!
