How To Invest Time:
1. To-do list - Actions to complete regularly.
2. Leverage lists - Actions that work for you after completion.
Leverage Lists > To-Do Lists
If you look at the world through the leverage list frame, your actions begin to change:
To-do list = Go to the gym.
Leverage list = Book a personal trainer for 3 months.
To-do list = Train someone on the marketing team.
Leverage list = Record the training so it can be re-used whenever someone new joins.
To-do lists are time liabilities. They require willpower again in the future.
Leverage lists are time assets. They need willpower once -- and then live on in the future.
Time Investment Razor:
• If once done, the item will appear again - you're working on time liabilities.
• If once done, your future to-do list is forever shorter or easier - you're working on time assets.
Note to younger self: Invest in time assets. Reduce and avoid time liabilities.
Time management was ironically a waste of time. I should've focused more on time investments.
