@ShakinthatChalk I’ve always believed that senior staff should be present in the classroom, teaching lessons or taking small groups. It’s so important for connection with both students and staff. I’m surprised to hear of middle leaders entirely out of class!

Before putting up the Christmas tree I put the box of decorations and the tree in the front room a few days beforehand, then Ryan helps me decorate the tree, this helps him get used to the front room being different, if I was to put it up while he was at his daycentre then he comes home to the changes this would cause him anxiety, I also have photos on my phone of previous years showing the room decorated, I don't put a lot up and I only decorate the front room, keeping his room the same with no changes is very important, this is what works for Ryan, what works for one autistic person may not necessarily work for another, every autistic person is different.
