Iran's naval interdiction capability in the Strait of Hormuz is effectively zero. The IRGCN surface fleet has been destroyed. No vessels. No enforcement. No closure.

So why isn't commercial traffic moving?

Because closing a strait doesn't require a navy. It requires fear. Shore-based anti-ship missiles are still operational. Mining threat assessment remains unresolved. Insurance underwriters have suspended coverage. No captain or shipping company will transit a contested chokepoint for any cargo margin.

Iran can't close the Strait militarily. But they don't need to. The market already closed it for them.

europe is working on theirs since years and are set to launch their phase 1 only end of October with a 3 years release process

so, not only the UAE went faster, it did it nicer than Europe. How?
