They were just Children. Photo of Carlisle Industrial Boarding School in Carlisle Pennsylvania. Tribes are still bringing Bones homes of our Children, who were buried out back! They were Children!

My ancestors were métis and mi’kmaq, but never got status cards out of fear. They hid their indigenous heritage out of fear. My history is lost and I will never know my indigenous ancestors’ histories. They never passed it down; I found out a sliver of it online through research.
It really isn’t that hard to be respectful of other people’s cultures.
Like if you didn’t know something that’s fine, you learn.
But telling people of said culture ‘stfu let me have my furry’ is dumb and rude.
Just pick a different animal/creature.
Respect always matters.
Truth and reconciliation day!!
Be sure to check in on your local elders, check on thier wellness and feed them good.
Thier resilience is the reason I can call myself cree.

today, September 30th, we wear orange for those who survived residential boarding schools, those who descend from survivors, and those who never made it home.
every child matters.
@tmoneydamaster4 people missing the idea that natives were brutally raped and murdered and erased but sure let’s all steal culture from us once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know damn well you guys aren't trying to compare christianity, a religion that's seen as the default, to native american culture that's suffered through centuries of disrespect and erasure
@cyclomorph@53gaDr3amca5t this would be funny if the quote wasn't directly disrespecting the native americans asking for people not to make wendigo ocs...
@KumaVoladarskii@CorpseParty4DBD@53gaDr3amca5t then go and educate? Why aren't you educating yourself? Plus those are modern made films while those who have believed in the wndgo have been believing it for thousands of years. Some have even died because they wanted to keep it alive.
@Yeetx3_123@Subimaginati@Big_Bonfire_Cat@Rainbowwishes75 Well are you? Are you working an an adaptation right now? This argument is kind of stupid. Good chances are that if you were to talk to these tribes they'd reject it. And you're not native yourself so you shouldn't be working on it. It'd be a lot nicer if it were native made
A lot of yall fuckin suck for how u talk abt native ppl/culture on here no you do not need a w*ndigo sona and im just gonna assume ur racist if u argue for it, real or not
The weirdest thing about people who make “wendigo OCs” is that they clearly don’t even know what a wendigo actually is, why they were made, or what one really looks like so idk why they gotta be so insistent in calling their deer-skull forest-spirit OC that so bad.
Blocked so many white ppl today over that one post abt a certain creature in Algonquian culture and non-ndn furries making ocs based on it.
White ppl genuinely act so offended when you ask them "hey, please respect our/the culture and dont feed into the +
@twicefaced@VPNSMOKESCREEN its not a cryptid it is a real cultural belief? Have you ever looked into the real story behind wndgos? Have you talked to a tribal member who believes in the wndgo? Do you know what tribes practice the belief? Talk to some natives you stupid racist
@NightZade@Korixili@Canaanchaos Hi so I am a proud native american woman. Are you saying that after generations of genocide and cultural erasure, we shouldn't try to keep our culture private and alive? You think that we Have to share our culture with the same people who oppressed us?
@NightZade@Korixili@Canaanchaos well you know in the past we've had those "toys" taken from us and we're beaten for "playing with them" so. Sorry for trying to keep out culture alive.
WTF are white people and wanting SO BADLY to appropriate native CLOSED CULTURE , genocidinh them, stealing every part of their culture (cloth, sage, spirit animal , their fucking country) isn't enough? Do y'all just want to turn everything white ? Omfgggg
