Smoking any kind of lit cigarette is an inherently selfish act and I think it should be illegal. I shouldn't have to be damaged by someone else's bad decisions.
I will actually never understand people who are on their phone during a theatre show. Like you are paying so much for these tickets to watch these people do art and you can't manage to put it down for 90 damn minutes? Fucking bite me. Just don't come. We don't need your patronage
Lots of agreement with this rant here, also some criticisms. The most common critique I agree with is that it does not spend enough time emphasizing that it IS POSSIBLE for everyone to have a home. We can do it.
To get there we have to decide to:
1. Recognize that there is no silver bullet, but look to places (like Finland) who have seen success...without pretending like it was easy for them to get there.
2. Overcome the racism and classism that makes it difficult to accept that not having a home isn't a moral failing, but a societal one.
I do not want people to read what I wrote and think "Well, it's hard, so it's not worth focusing on."
But we also can't pretend like it's easy or ignore the many people in the public sector and in non-profits helping to keep people housed right now who have a lot of on-the-ground knowledge of how to build on the work that has been done so far.
please remember that Christmas is not about buying expensive gifts. it's about the Spirits of Christmas visiting the rich and scaring them into becoming a better person and sharing their wealth
