Glad to share our new paper on current radioisotopes accumulation by lichens across Scandinavia and Poland which well reflects the contamination caused by Chernobyl disaster in 1986 ⏳📄📊

Our new work on variation of usnic acid in Cladonia mitis across Scandinavia and Poland - enjoy 😊 Thanks EU-Interact for excelent fieldwork support #euinteract#lichen#cladonia https://t.co/YU3bbYpE7U
Pleased to be invited by MDPI Sustainability journal as a Guest Editor and I am happy to announce the Special Issue 'Svalbard Biodiversity: New Insights for Conservation'. Have a look at it and consider submitting a paper! https://t.co/v3tnt2pUkc
@mountainecology@STOTEN_journal Forestry practices also aim to enrich the substrate for better tree development, and this is not beneficial to lichens in long perspective.
Our new paper on protection of valuable lichen-rich Scots pine forests in @STOTEN_journal can be freely accessed during limited time period here: https://t.co/mfqSC34QXO

@mountainecology@STOTEN_journal I would say that windthrow/tree senescence is not enought to maintain these habitats. Light is crucial for lichens but they also prefer soils rather poor in nutrients. Successional development of forest ecosystem favour the growth of bryophytes and vascular plants not lichens.
Happy to say that I successfully defended my PhD thesis "The importance of cryptogams in the primary succession process and soil development in the forelands of Svalbard glaciers" #phdlife#thesisdefense#doctor#research#Svalbard#Arctic

It’s fantastic working in Latnjajaure, no matter the weather. Despite what the photos show, there is a bad weather bias to what is captured during field work! #ITEX#phenology#browning#vegetation
